Christ University PhD Psychology Admissions 2025

Christ University, Bangalore, has started inviting applications for its various PhD in Psychology programs for the session of 2025-26.

The institute was established in 1969 and gained recognition from the University Grants Commission (UGC) as a Deemed-To-Be-University. Its main campus is situated in Bangalore, and the two other educational campuses are in Delhi-NCR and Yeshwanthpur, Bangalore.

The Programs

These are the following programs for which the Christ University has released the Application Forms:

  • Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Psychology

    • Career Path: Clinical psychologists in hospitals, private practice, or academia. Eligibility for licensure (e.g., RCI in India) if approved.
  • Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Neuropsychology
    • Overview: An advanced research program in brain-behavior relationships, often focused on neurological conditions and cognitive processes.
    • Focus: Research on brain function, neurocognitive disorders, rehabilitation, and brain imaging techniques.
    • Career Path: Neuropsychological assessment, research in neuroscience labs, academic teaching, or hospitals specializing in neurology.
  • Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Counselling Psychology
    • Overview: This PhD emphasizes mental health support for individuals dealing with life stressors, developmental challenges, or personal growth needs.
    • Focus: Prevention, positive psychology, well-being, and therapy, often in non-clinical or community settings.
    • Career Path: School/college counselors, therapy professionals, wellness consultants, and university researchers.

Eligibility Criteria for Admission (Similar for all the mentioned programs)

  • Educational Qualification: A Master’s degree in Psychology (or related specialization) with at least 55% aggregate marks is required.
  • International Students: Postgraduates from International Universities must obtain an equivalency certificate from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).
  • Entrance Requirements: All applicants must appear for the PhD Entrance Exam and Interview (The dates will be pre-announced).
  • Exemption from the Entrance Exam: Candidates holding any of the following qualifications are exempt from the entrance exam, but must take a Research Skill Assessment Test along with an Interview:

Time of Payment: All the candidates have to pay the first-year fee immediately after confirmation of admission. For subsequent years, fees must be paid annually on or before 15th March (the fee for Full-Time PhD Scholars, as indicated in the table, is the actual fee payable and excludes the scholarship amount).

NRI Fee (First Year Only): Candidates who studied a foreign syllabus in India (recognized by UGC/AIU) will pay the NRI fee for the first year. From the second year onward, the Other Indian States fee applies (does not apply to NRI students or those who applied under the NRI category).

Full Programme NRI Fee applies to:

  • Candidates who completed their last qualifying exam outside India
  • NRI students or those who applied under the NRI category

To be eligible for the Indian category fee, a candidate must have studied for the last 7 years in India (not applicable to OCI, PIO, and Foreign Nationals)

A non-refundable admission registration fee applies:

  • ₹8,000 for Indian candidates
  • $100 for Foreign Nationals / OCI / PIO

Separate from cancellation charges, if any

Fee Payment (post-selection) must be made via:
