Method of Selection
- Admission to JMI’s PhD Psychology programme will be based on an entrance examination conducted by the university.
- The university will call shortlisted candidates from the entrance test for an interview/viva-voce as part of the final selection process.
Candidates who have qualified for the UGC-NET or CSIR-NET with Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) do not need to take the entrance test. However, they must appear for the interview and submit their research proposal as per the university’s guidelines.
Eligibility Criteria
For Admission to JMI’s PhD program, the applicant must fulfil the following criteria:
- Candidates who have completed one year (two semesters) of a master’s programme after a four-year (eight-semester) bachelor’s degree, OR two years (four semesters) of a master’s degree after a three-year (six-semester) bachelor’s degree programme, OR hold a qualification equivalent to a master’s degree from a recognised university.
- Candidates must secure at least 55% aggregate marks (or 50% for those belonging to reserved categories).

Number of Seats: 19 (nineteen).
- To apply for the PhD in Psychology at JMI, candidates must visit the university’s online application portal for PhD Admissions.
- Submission of a Research Proposal is mandatory at the time of registration.
- The Department of Psychology will conduct the interview based on the submitted proposal.
- The application fee is ₹2,000 per applicant.
