NIMHANS is going to conduct a walk-in-interview for various posts including “Psychology/Counsellor” on a contractual basis for the project named “Bengaluru Urban Mental Health Initiative” under Dr. Arvind Professor of Epidemiology and principal investigator and Dr. Manjunatha N, Additional Professor of Psychiatry & Principal Investigator, NIMHANS, Bengaluru – 560029.

National Institute of Mental Health and Neuroscience (NIMHANS), Bangalore is one of the dream institutes for most students who want to become a mental health professional in India. Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the post of Psychologist /Counselor, the candidates should have completed their Master’s in Psychology/Clinical Psychology OR Master’s in Social Work with specializations in Medical and Psychiatric Social Work.

Besides this, candidates should fulfill the following specializations:

  1. Specializing in Medical and Psychiatric Social Work
  2. Familiar with Community-Based Mental Health Training and Experience in Training Others
  3. Educating Community Members on Different Mental Health Topics
  4. Proficiency in providing general counseling
  5. Proficiency in interpersonal skills
  6. Ability to Read and Write Fluently in Kannada, Hindi, and English is Preferable

Nature of Work

The work will be based in Bengaluru City – South Zone. The work includes planning and preparing for mental health training programs, providing service, conducting training for community members in the field, displaying training programs, data collection, data entry, data analysis, drafting the report and liaising with the community, liaising with government officials, and to undertake the other activities as instructed by the investigators.

Age Limit & Emolument Details

The selected candidates will receive a consolidated emolument of ₹45,000/– per month. Notably, the upper age limit of candidates is 35 years.

Duration of the Post

The initial appointment of the post will be for 6 months. The duration of the vacancy can be extendable further on the basis of the performance of the candidate in work.
